A Gilford man, who appeared in court accused of a assaulting a woman, has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged injured party as he was released on bail.
When asked if he understood the charge, the 53-year-old replied: “Yep.”
William David Kennedy, Dunbarton Street, appeared charged with common assault at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court – sitting at Newry – on Thursday.
As the charges were read, it was heard that the defendant is accused of assaulting a female on December 5.
Standing in the dock, when asked if he understood the charges Kennedy replied: “Yep.”
A constable stated that she believed she could connect the defendant to the charges before the court.
Prosecution applied for a five week adjournment whilst a full file was awaited.
Kennedy was released on his own bail of £250 to appear again on February 2, a condition of this was that he have no contact directly, indirectly or via a third party with the alleged injured party.
