A Banbridge man accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to another male will face Crown Court proceedings later this year.
The 30-year-old appeared at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry, for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Aaron Denis Comiskey, of Mount Charles, is charged with a single count of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
As the charge was read, it was heard that the offence is alleged to have been committed by the defendant on November 24, of last year.
Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, Comiskey made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Gavyn Cairns made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Eamonn King was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer and the defendant was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Newry Crown Court on September 7 for arraignment.
