Scarva Parish Church is opening its doors this evening to pray for the safe return of a 15-year-old schoolboy who has been missing since yesterday (Thursday).
Madison Crawford was last seen in the Banbridgev area at around 4.30pm.
Police issued a missing person appeal and urged anyone who has seen Madison to get in touch.
Described as six feet tall, well-built and with brown/ginger hair and brown eyes, the teenager was wearing his Banbridge High School uniform – black blazer, black trousers, white shirt and black leather shoes – when last seen.
With Madison still missing over 24 hours later, Scarva Parish Church – of which the 15-year-old is a member – is opening this evening from 6pm to 8pm.
Rev Rodney Magennis, of Loughbrickland, Donaghmore and Scarva Church of Ireland, said the church in Scarva was open to all to come together.
Via social media, he said: “This is a really hard time for his parents and sister and we cannot fully understand the pain that they are going through.
“To this end, I will be opening St Matthew’s Parish Church in Scarva this evening, from 6pm until at least 8pm, for anyone to come and offer personal prayer for his safe return and for ease of mind for his family.
“As a church family and community let us come together and bring this whole situation to God in prayer.”
Anyone who has seen Madison or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact the PSNI by phoning the 101 number.
