There has been a serious road traffic collision near the Outlet in Banbridge this afternoon.
Traffic is at a standstill on both sides of the A1 between Banbridge and Newry.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “We’re dealing with a serious incident on the A1, southbound at the Outlet.
“Please find an alternate route to avoid congestion.
“The road may be closed for some time.”
Armagh I understands that staff from a nearby Tesco rushed to offer assistance after a car, travelling from the Newry direction, lost control and crash into an oncoming vehicle.
Unconfirmed reports suggest at least two men have been rushed to hospital.
There are no further details at this stage.
