Bessbrook family home ransacked during latest in spate of burglaries in area

The property was 'forcibly entered, ransacked and robbed' according to a local councillor

A family home in Bessbrook has been ransacked during the latest in a sickening spate of burglaries across south Armagh.

The incident happened at Church View in the village and the householders have been left understandably upset and distressed.

The burglary has been branded the work of “selfish criminals” preying on local residents and their properties.

Sinn Fein councillor Roisin Mulgrew appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

She said: “Another family home has been forcibly entered, ransacked and robbed.

“The criminal gangs carrying these attacks on residents and their properties seem to feel that they can get away with these dastardly acts without any fear of apprehension.

“I again appeal to all to be vigilant and be alert for suspicious activities. Anyone who observes anything suspicious should immediately contact the police.

“It is imperative that those engaged in these criminal acts are apprehended and they should face the full rigours of the law for the damage both materially and emotionally that they are inflicting on people.

“I expect the police to ensure that they are fully resourced to tackle and stop these gangs.”
