Plans are afoot to rejuvenate parts of Bessbrook village.
Newry, Mourne and Down Council are carrying out four Environmental Improvement (EI) schemes across the district.
Castlewellan, Rostrevor and Saintfield are the other three which will given a new lease of life.
The key aim of the EI Scheme in Bessbrook is to enhance the aesthetic appearance and key infrastructure within the village, including; an enhanced public realm, better footpaths, street furniture and lighting.
A concept design proposal has now been developed for Bessbrook, which follows a previously completed 2020 community engagement process, liaison with several statutory bodies and initial discussions with the community and business sectors in each of the settlements.
The schemes are planned to commence in the winter of 2022/23, subject to securing planning approvals.
In advance of submitting planning applications as part of the development process, the Council is now seeking public views and suggestions on the proposed works to help inform the final designs.
