South Armagh burglary spree as homes targeted in Meigh, Bessbrook and Camlough

A group of thieves are on a burglary rampage in south Armagh this evening (Friday).

There have been reports of homes burgled, some attempted burglaries in various locations across the wider Bessbrook area.

Three or four men, travelling in a silver Mercedes are believed to be behind the alarming incidents.

There areas targeted include Churchview in Bessbrook, Tobar Blinne in Meigh and Quarter Road in Camlough. One of the break-ins occurred around 7.30pm.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Please keep an eye out and report any sightings of a silver coloured AMG Mercedes in the South Armagh area.

“It has two exhausts, sounds quite loud and may have ROI number plates. Anyone who sees this vehicle please contact Police on 101.”

Sinn Fein councillor Roisin Mulgrew added: “A home in Meigh and one in Camlough have been broken into tonight.

“A silver Mercedes southern registration OY with 3/4 males in it is suspected of being involved in both.

“If anyone sees this vehicle or anything suspicious contact the PSNI immediately.”
