Sinn Féin representatives Megan Fearon and Mickey Larkin have met with the Head Teacher of Dromintee Primary School Mrs. McMahon recently to discuss the next steps in the campaign for a new nursery unit at the school.
Following the meeting Megan Fearon committed to raising the issue with the Education Department and she has since written to the CCMS outlining the need for a nursery unit.
Councillor Larkin said: “This meeting was a good opportunity to see exactly what the school envisages for its new nursery. There is no doubt that there is enough demand locally for a nursery school and I am confident that this would be a valuable service for the local community. In fact the projected enrolment for the next five years would see the unit oversubscribed.
“A suitable site exists within the current school grounds and initial design ideas for the unit have already been explored.
“I hope that this campaign gathers momentum and I am pleased to offer any assistance possible to Dromintee Primary School.”
