A community has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of a young man in south Armagh.
The body of the popular local man, who was married, was discovered in a wooded area close to Camlough Lake today (Tuesday).
Police are not treating the death of the 31-year-old as suspicious.
Newry & Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy – who knows the family – said there was a deep sense of shock in the local Camlough and Killeavy communities.
He said: “Our deepest sympathies to the family of this young man. There is a deep sense of shock throughout the local Camlough and Killeavy communities.
“At this present moment our thoughts and prayers are with this grieving family as they try to come to terms with this tragic news.”
Local Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said two families and the man’s many friends had been “plunged into darkness with this terrible news”.
She added: “We can only offer them our prayers and support at this tragic time.”
SDLP MLA Justin McNulty also expressed his deep sadness and sympathies to the family of the young Killeavy man.
“This community is stunned and heartbroken this evening at this tragic news,” he said. “A young life lost, a young family heartbroken and a community in disbelief. No words I or anyone else can offer will console the family at this very difficult time, but I hope they are assured this community will rally round them in their hour of need.
“They will be in our thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead.”
