A family-run Pilates business that began six years ago in rural Armagh are excited to announce the opening of their fourth location in Portadown!
Strength and Tone Reformer Pilates – owned by husband and wife, Paddy and Michaela Gray – started life as a single studio in Tassagh back in 2019.
Since then, the pair have taken on two additional premises to cope with growing demand, in Armagh city and Castleblayney.
It all started when Paddy suffered with a bad back caused by years of working in construction. He tried all manners of rehab available but alas nothing worked.
Time after time, he was recommended to try Reformer Pilates – and willing to give anything a try at this stage to help with the pain, he took up Reformer Pilates… and never looked back!
After just a few short months of attending regular Reformer Pilates classes, he noticed a complete change in his posture and his back pain completely left him!
Returning home from Australia in 2018, he knew that the benefits of Reformer Pilates where so great to help him, that he could help others.

Quickly realising how the ‘mind-body exercise’ helped his recovery and the great impact it had on his overall wellbeing – Paddy came home to Ireland and completed a Mat Pilates course in Dublin before making the trip to England to train in Reformer Pilates. With Michaela completing her training soon after.
The couple spent years practicing Pilates and forming a love for the benefits the exercise had to their overall wellness before taking the leap and opening their own studio!
Strength and Tone offer a specialised workout using low-impact movements to help aid injury recovery, strengthen muscles and improve overall fitness.
And now, they are bringing their expertise to the people of Portadown starting with a free taster day on February 20!
Their new studio will throw its doors open at 248 Obins Street for those curious to see what it’s all about.
They will welcome potential customers every hour from 9.30am and everyone aged 14 and over – no matter gender, skill or ability – are welcome to attend.
