Armagh City and District Council has agreed in principle to enter into a ‘dual use’ arrangement with St Patrick’s Grammar School.
It follows receipt of a letter from St Patrick’s Cathedral Parish requesting use of Cathedral Road Recreation Centre by St Patrick’s Grammar School.
The Parish intends to extend the cemetery which would take in part of the existing playing fields currently used by the Armagh school.
It was considered appropriate that, given the council’s policy of developing dual-use recreation facilities, where possible, approval in principle should be agreed.
Discussion will take place with the school and parish to agree the programme and finance and a report will be brought back to council in due course.
