Armagh City Councillor Cathy Rafferty has praised council staff for taking her concerns on board regarding traffic congestion at the twice monthly Car Boot Sale held in the Shambles Market.
Councillor Rafferty said: “The Car Boot Sale has proven very popular both with sellers and members of the public. Members of the public had remarked to me that during previous sales there were issues of traffic congestion around the site. I wanted to nip this in the bud, particularly as the Christmas trading season is almost upon us.
“Myself and my colleague Councillor Roy McCartney brought the issue to Armagh Council with a request that an additional member of staff be deployed to the Car Boot Sale and that both entrance and exit gates will be open.
“I am delighted that over the coming weeks these new arrangements will be trialled and I will be seeking feedback from the Car Boot Sale patrons to ensure that these changesave alleviated some of their concerns.”
