Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council have agreed to become a JAM Card friendly organisation.
The JAM Card is a credit card-sized plastic card that people with learning difficulties or learning disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Conditions can carry and use to let anyone they encounter either in retail outlets, public and private transport, and other areas of public life, that the card-holder needs Just A Minute (JAM) of time, patience and understanding.
And last night, representatives from the social enterprise NOW Group delivered a presentation to councillors in Armagh, outlining the benefits of the card.
It received the unanimous backing of the elected representatives in attendance.
And with the decision expected to be ratified at the end of January, training will be rolled out for staff in the coming months.
The JAM Card was created first as a credit card sized plastic card and last last year was developed into an app for smartphones which received a Highly Commended award in the Innovation in Digital category at the DANI Awards.
The ABC Council will follow in the footsteps of their Belfast Counterparts who signed up in the latter half of 2017.
They will be provided with marketing materials to allow them to alert their customers that they welcome JAM Card holders, including a window sticker and logos that can be used online and on relevant documents.
