Nando’s, home of the legendary flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, have landed in Co. Armagh as customers flock to the new restaurant in Rushmere Shopping Centre.
The restaurant is the sixth Nando’s location in Northern Ireland bringing more than 40 full and part-time jobs to the area, ranging from cashiers, grillers to managers.
PERi-PERi addict Chris Johnston from Armagh City was selected from hundreds of competition entrants on Armagh I to officially open the new restaurant and picked up a prize of free Nando’s for a year.
He said: “I always travel down to Belfast for a Nando’s so it’s brilliant to have one closer to home. My favourite menu items are the sunset burger with PERi-Salted chips. I’m super chuffed I was picked to open the new restaurant, it’s been a privilege and an honour.”
The restaurant design includes colourful woven pendant lighting and exposed brick wall finishes providing a backdrop to original art from emerging and established Southern African artists, in homage to Nando’s Southern African heritage. Used firehoses from South Africa have been recycled and flatted to create a woven suspended ceiling for the 96-seater restaurant.
Alongside delicious flame grilled PERi-PERi chicken served on or off the bone, in a wrap, burger or pitta, die-hard fans will be excited to get their hands on the much-loved Churrasco Burger, on menus for a limited time only, in support of Nando’s efforts to fight Malaria in Mozambique.
Lorcan Feely, Regional MD of Nando’s commented: “We’ve been so excited to open the doors to our new restaurant in Craigavon. We’ve a great location perfect for shoppers for a PERi-PERi pit-stop or those living nearby who want to grab a takeaway!”
