A Co Armagh man has had a bench warrant put out in his name for his second drink driving offence within five years.
The 32-year-old, who was found guilty in his absence, must appear before the court before sentencing according to the judge given his prior conviction.
Edward Keenan, of Acorn Grove, Craigavon as convicted in his absence of driving with excess alcohol in blood at Armagh Magistrates’ on Tuesday.
It was heard that on July 1, police on patrol stopped the defendant driving on the Portadown Road, Armagh.
Officers spoke to the Keenan, who confirmed his name, they noted a strong smell of alcohol and that the defendant had a cut to his temple.
A preliminary breath test was conducted resulting in a fail.
Keenan was subsequently taken to Craigavon Area Hospital where a sample of his blood was taken.
During tests, it was found that the defendant had 122mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
District Judge Peter Magill convicted Keenan in his absence.
Upon seeing the defendant’s record, he commented: “He had a similar offence back in 2014, that falls within the 10 year period.
“I will need him to be before me for sentencing, therefore, there will be a warrant issued in his name”.
