Craigavon Magistrates Court

A Craigavon teenager who is accused of raping a child under the age of 13 will face Crown Court proceedings later this month

The 19-year-old is also alleged to have engaged in a sexual act in front of the same female for the purpose of sexual gratification.

He appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with engaging in a sexual act in the presence of a child and rape of a child under the age of 13, via videolink from Hydebank.

Both accusations relate to the same female and are alleged to have occurred between June 1 and June 10, of this year.

Prosecution informed the court that a date for the preliminary enquiry, the legal process by which a case is referred upwards to the Crown Court, had been set for November 8.

Deputy District Judge John Rea ordered that the defendant be produced on that occasion for the process to be conducted.
