A convicted sex offender who failed to notify police of his change in address has been sent a warning with a £200 fine.
The district judge told the 44-year-old: “Hopefully this will remind you not to forget again.”
Kevin Flynn, pleaded guilty to failing to notify the PSNI of a change of address as a sex offender at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Prosecution outlined that the defendant had moved to a new address on August 19. He would have had three days to notify police of this but failed to do so.
When cautioned for the offence, Flynn told police: “I genuinely forgot to contact.”
The defendant had been convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on June 13 of 2016 and was required to sign the register until June 13, 2023.
Defence barrister David McKeown stated: “This is a man who has been subject to these conditions for a number of years. He was released in 2014 and has had no prior incidents.
“He had been living in what he saw as temporary accommodation and moved out in August. At his next meeting he said to his officer that he had forgot to mention the change in address but it was too late.”
Flynn was ordered to pay a fine of £200, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 12 weeks.
Deputy District Judge Gerard Trainor commented: “Hopefully this will remind you not to forget again.”
