Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is encouraging local residents, schools, volunteer and community organisations to apply for this year’s Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Live Here Love Here Small Grants Scheme.
The scheme opened on Monday, April 15 for five weeks. Volunteer and community groups, all school and third level education organisations, youth groups and sports clubs undertaking civic pride projects throughout the borough are eligible to apply to the scheme.
In 2018, 18 applications from the borough were successful in availing of grants from £500 to £5,000.
The projects ranged from rejuvenation of community spaces, outdoor classrooms and nature trails and equipment such as litter pickers and gardening tools for maintenance projects.
Launched by local councils, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Choice Housing, McDonald’s and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, the Small Grants Scheme provides support to volunteer projects which use innovative ways to reduce littering and dog fouling, improve the way your local environment is looked after, whether urban, rural or coastal and contribute to the development of civic pride within a community with a focus on environmental improvement.
The scheme is also open to all Housing Association residents with support from Choice Housing, Northern Ireland Housing Executive and McDonald’s throughout all council areas in Northern Ireland.
