A special public information event is taking place tonight (Monday) to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day 2018.
And Armagh Palace and Gaol, Banbridge Town Hall and Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre building will all light up yellow tonight in support of World Suicide Prevention Day
Deputy Lord Mayor Paul Duffy, is hosting the information evening to raise awareness of mental health and suicide throughout the borough.
It will bring together a variety of agencies and organisations working in this sensitive and difficult field to extend a helping hand to those who may need information and assistance for themselves, a family member or friend.
Representatives from Action Mental Health, PIPS Upper Bann, Niamh Louise Foundation, MindWise, Praxis Care, SHSCT, Inspire Wellbeing, Samaritans-Craigavon, PCSP and the PSNI will be on hand to offer professional advice and guidance, giving members of the public the opportunity to hear more about their work within the local community.
Deputy Lord Mayor Duffy, said: “Throughout our lives, at some stage or another, we are all affected by the issues surrounding mental health.
“Whether it’s our own feelings or those of a close relative or friend, it’s vitally important to recognise the signs and symptoms, to seek advice and talk things through with someone who is listening.
“I would encourage anyone who feels they might need help, advice or someone to talk to, to please come along or if you know of a family member or friend who might benefit from attending to please encourage them to attend.”
The event is free and will begin at 7pm in Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre.
In addition, Armagh Palace and Gaol, Banbridge Town Hall and Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre building will all light up yellow on Monday, September 10, in support of World Suicide Prevention Day
