A Co Armagh man will face Crown Court proceedings later this summer for alleged historic sex charges, including gross indecency towards a child.
The 92-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared accused of 29 counts of indecent assault on a female, 10 counts of gross indecency towards a child, two counts of inciting gross indecency with a child and attempted indecent assault on a female at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Defence counsel stated that a medical report which had bee obtained declared that the defendant was fit for the proceeding of a preliminary enquiry.
The defendant confirmed his name as he sat in the body of the court.
All of the alleged offences were heard to have occurred between November 21, of 1972, and August 23, of 1991.
The defendant made no objection to the holding of the preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution stated that based on the papers before the court they felt there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.
The accused was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on July 9.
District Judge Bernie Kelly added conditions that he was to have no contact directly or indirectly with any of the injured parties or prosecution witnesses.
