A major new access road into Rushmere Shopping Centre and retail park in Craigavon is set to transform traffic flow in the area.
For years, the roundabout between Rushmere and Marlborough House has dealt with the heavy burden of vehicles coming and going from the centre, especially during the weekends.
Now, a planning application for the new access road – which will cost £1.7million to construct – is expected to be submitted later this month, which will go some way to alleviating a long-standing issue.
The project is fully tendered and ready to start on receipt in anticipation of planning permission.
And should permission be granted by ABC Council, the works are expected to take around five months to complete.
The project costs are being covered by the landlords, Killahoey Ltd, a joint venture between Donall McCann, Stuart Draffin and Ian McMahon, who bought the scheme out of administration in January 2023.

Since then, Killahoey Ltd have been undertaking a major refurbishment of the shopping centre and park, which includes all internal and external common areas, mall flooring, ceilings, seating, toilets and 12 new occupiers within 12 months.
Confirmed new occupiers this year already include; Warren James, Rituals, Pilgrim Foods and Mango, and it is expected five more will be confirmed before Christmas.
And there will also be a very different Santa experience this year – one to stay tuned for.
