A Craigavon man who was found with both Class B and C drugs in his possession whilst attending Lurgan Police Station has been given a suspended prison sentence.
The district judge warned that until the 27-year-old dealt with his “addiction issues” he would continue to reoffend.
Niall Henry, of Meadowbrook, appeared for sentencing on possession of Class B and possession of Class C drugs at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Prosecution outlined that on September 30, of last year, the defendant had been attending Lurgan Police Station when officers detected a smell of cannabis emanating from his person.
A search was conducted of Henry, during which police found a tobacco pouch containing 12.4-grammes of herbal cannabis, a grinder with a further 0.4-grammes of the substance, a cannabis joint and 24 pregabalin tablets concealed in his waistband.
The defendant was interviewed about the substances and made full admissions.
Defence barrister Conor Lunny stated that his client had been “engaging very well with probation”, commenting that Henry “clearly” had an issue with drugs.
District Judge Bernie Kelly warned that until Henry dealt with his “addiction issues” he would continue to reoffend.
The defendant was sentenced to two months in prison suspended for a period of two years.
