Nine further Covid deaths in NI as ABC Council launch new helpline for residents

There have been nine further Covid-related deaths reported by the Department of Health today (Friday).

Of which eight occurred in the last 24 hours – and one just outside that timeframe, according to the official dashboard, which has the overall total now at 697.

There were a further 566 cases reported in that timeframe – significantly down on Thursday, with 49 in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon and a further 46 in Newry, Mourne and Down.

A total of 2,930 individuals were tested.

There are 354 people now in hospital – that’s seven less than Thursday – as a result of the virus, 43 of whom are in intensive care units. There are currently 14 ICU beds available in NI.

Sixty-five patients are in Craigavon Area Hospital today – four less than yesterday. To date, 439 patients have been discharged from the Co. Armagh hospital.

There are also ten Covid inpatients at Lurgan Hospital and five – down four – in Daisy Hill in Newry.

Meanwhile, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has launched a new pilot Community Support Helpline to make a difference to the lives of local residents.

The helpline, which is open from 9am on Monday, November 2, will provide information and support to local people covering a range of issues including training and employment, health and wellbeing, advice services, volunteering and food support.

Individuals will be able to call, leave a message or email the new Community Support Helpline and the query will be dealt with by the council’s experienced community support team within 48hrs.

With information on key services available from Council and partner agencies including advice services, food banks, Jobs & Benefits, Southern Regional College & Southern Health & Social Care Trust – the helpline can assist you with a range of queries or questions you may have.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Kevin Savage commented: “As part of our commitment to supporting our local community we are pleased to be able to launch the new pilot Community Support Helpline to support our local residents during this difficult time.

“The helpline aims to make life easier, better and more rewarding for individuals and their families, whatever their needs or situation.”
