A convicted murderer who spent four days on the run from police has been charged following his arrest on Friday night.
Police have charged 41-year-old Stephen henry with being unlawfully at large while under sentence and possessing a Class C controlled drug.
He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, November 6.
It is understood Henry, who murdered dad-of-two John Cooke with a Samurai-style sword in 2004, was arrested drunk in Dublin on Friday morning after being thrown out of a city-centre hostel.
He was hauled before Dublin District Court but was let go after being fined €75 for a public order offence.
Because no European arrest warrant was issued, Gardai had no choice but to let Henry walk free.
However, he was later apprehended in Waringstown, close to midnight on Friday.
As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
