With summer approaching and schools out for summer, it’s time to get planning your family summer of fun!

Last week, Armagh I were invited down to Craigavon to see what the getactiveabc team have in-store to keep everyone entertained this summer.

With a host of different activities, there’s something for the little kids and even the big kids like ourselves!

We started the day off in Craigavon Ski and Golf Centre for some land-based activities where we brushed up on our football skills with a round of footgolf on their 18-hole course.

One thing’s for sure, us girls are competitive so every score counted! With a few balls in the hedges, we finally got the hang of things and even managed a few hole in ones!

Before grabbing our rubber rings and making the ascent up the slopes for snowtubing! This activity is fast-paced and calorie burning!

After a few trips up and down with the rubber ring, we then headed back into the centre to get suited and booted before getting back onto the slopes for skiing! Our instructor Peter talked us through the safety demonstration and basics of skiing before we took to the slope to try it out for ourselves.

Neither myself nor Kellie are experienced skiers so we definitely both had wobbly legs but after a few goes we were both feeling much more confident and even a bit speedier on our descent down! We recommended checking out the ski lessons for any beginners to learn the basics before hitting any real snowy slopes.

Taking the short drive over to South Lakes Leisure Centre, we took the chance to sit down to refuel and recharge enjoying a delicious lunch at Café IncredABLE before getting ready to hit the water!

We met up with our water instructor Mark, who got us kitted out in our wetsuits and lifejackets. After a run through of the activities involved and safety demonstration, we where ready to make a splash!

For the second part of our day and our first water sports activity was Paddleboarding.

Again, a new activity to both Kellie and myself, it took us a couple of laps of the lake before we were getting in the stride of the movements and finding our balance – but it wasn’t long before we where pro-boarders and standing up!

Next up, we hopped into individual kayaks for a glide around the lake. Here, we where able to go at our own pace and take in the beautiful surroundings of South Lakes. We recommended kayaking for those interested in a more steady paced, leisurely trip on the water.

We ended the day at getactiveabc’s newest addition to water activities in recent years – the inflatable aqua park. This one isn’t for the faint hearted- it’s a dare devil’s dream! And be warned – there is no avoiding it – you will get wet!

The aqua inflatable might look scary, but with a lifeguard in position at all times – you’re most definitely in good hands.
