The Southern Trust recently held a Charity Gala Ball to raise funds for its Charity Partners – PIPS Hope and Support and PIPS Upper Bann which are Public Initiatives for the Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm.
The Gala raised a total of £12,000. All funds raised have been donated to both charities to provide crisis counselling to support vulnerable people who are at risk of suicide and people who self-harm in the Southern Trust area.
Trust staff, service users, friends, Charity Partners and local businesses were treated to an evening of fine dining and outstanding entertainment at the Trust’s ‘Alternative Christmas Party – Charity Gala Ball’ in the Armagh City Hotel on February 2.
The evening featured a drinks reception, live music, dancing, an auction and a raffle.
Guests were also treated to a special performance by the Trust’s Makaton Choir from Oakridge Social Education Centre in Dungannon.
Commenting on the event, Vivienne Toal, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development said: “I’m extremely proud that the Southern Trust has been associated with such a rewarding and worthwhile event and it has been very fulfilling to
continue to raise the profile of and much needed funds for our nominated charities.
“Many lives in our workplace and wider families have been touched by the tragedy of suicide, and as a result, lives have been changed forever.
“The Gala Ball is our way of seeking to make a difference in our local communities by raising much needed funds for crisis counselling.
“The money raised is testament to the kindness and generosity of our staff, local businesses and individuals alike, and it was incredible to see the amount of support the Trust’s Charity Partners have received.
“The Gala would not have been possible without the generous support of everyone involved, particularly the small team of Charity
Champions who have volunteered their time and expertise to organise the event. I would particularly like to thank all the businesses and people who kindly donated money and items for our auction/raffle and to those who supported the auction on the night.”
