A man has been handed a suspended prison term after he was convicted of a substantial benefit fraud.
Kenneth Bradford, 62, of Rawdon Place, Moira was convicted at Craigavon Crown Court today for claiming in excess of £22,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.
Bradford claimed Housing Benefit and Income Support totalling £22,388 while failing to declare he had a pension and was also living with his partner.
He was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.

On Monday, a Newry woman who pocketed more than £37,000 in benefit was sentenced at Newry Magistrates’ Court.
Margaret McDonagh, 39, of Ardcarn Park, claimed Housing Benefit and Income Support totalling £37,648 while failing to declare capital.
She was given a nine month prison sentence suspended for two years.
Suspected benefit fraud can be reported to the Department for Communities anonymously.
