A woman caught driving at 110mph on the motorway has been disqualified from driving for two months.
Court heard the 30-year-old was prepared to “pay any fine deemed necessary” to mitigate her ban.
Ann Marie Owens pleaded guilty to excess speed at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Court heard that on August 27 at 9.40pm police spotted the defendant driving a Toyota on the M1 citybound at junction 10.
Officers followed Owens for two-and-a-half miles during which her speed did not fall below 105mph in a 70mph zone.
Court heard that the defendant reached a maximum speed of around 110mph.
Owens was stopped and cautioned.
Defence counsel stated the defendant was a civil engineer in Belfast and required her licence to commute.
He added that Owens accepted this was “far too fast” and was willing to “pay any fine deemed necessary” to mitigate her disqualification.
District Judge Paul Copeland stated: “She has offered no excuse or reason, this is clearly an excessive speed and totally unnecessary.”
However, he said he was prepared to mitigate the sentence given the defendant’s “otherwise professional, respectable and good character”.
Owens was handed a two-month disqualification and ordered to pay a fine of £250, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 10 weeks.
