Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Gareth Wilson has praised local Drum Major tutor Andrea Gibson and her team of pupils who won an impressive array of silverware this season.
Alderman Wilson hosted the group at Armagh Palace to mark the success of the young talented Drum Majors as they chalked up win after win in various competitions over the year.
Lord Mayor Wilson said: “Having seen many of the Drum Majors in action at both the Craigavon and District Pipe Band Championships and the All Ireland Championships at Lurgan Park where I was delighted to be Chieftain for the day, it amazed me just how professional and dedicated they all were.
“This certainly reflected in the the vast array of silverware that they all have secured throughout the season.”
He added: “Of course it’s in no small part down to the expert and dedicated tuition of Andrea Gibson who has provided such sterling service over 20 years in teaching Drum Major classes.
“It was only but fitting that I recognised this commendable service and the success of all the Co Armagh Drum Majors at a reception in Armagh Palace.
“I wish both Andrea and all the Drum Majors well as they prepare for the new season and hope they continue with their amazing success. Well done to all.”
