A Co Down woman has been handed a four-week disqualification for what a judge has branded an “exceptionally high speed” on the A1.
Lindsay Ruddock, 30, of Bangor, pleaded guilty to excess speed at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard the defendant was detected by police driving a Citroen C1 on the A1, Dromore, on July 29, travelling at 91mph in what is a 60mph zone.
Ruddock made no reply when she was cautioned by police.
Defence counsel stated the defendant was “very contrite” and had no excuse for her speeding.
Ruddock appeared before the court with a clear record of over 13 years of driving.
Court heard the defendant was a dietetic assistant specialising in children under six months; this work required her to travel throughout Northern Ireland.
District Judge Bernie Kelly disqualified Ruddock from driving for four weeks saying this was to “reflect what is an exceptionally high speed”.
In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay a fine of £150, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within four weeks.
