A woman who made off after colliding with another vehicle in the car park of a Co Armagh shopping centre has been handed six penalty points.
The 64-year-old’s barrister told court: “She did stay for a certain amount of time but accepts she did not make an effort to make herself known to the owner of the vehicle.”
Marie Edmonds, of Ardowen, Monbrief, pleaded guilty to failing to report, failing to remain and driving without due care or attention at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Prosecution outlined that on August 16, at 3.40pm, police received a report of a one vehicle hit and run at the Rushmere shopping centre car park.
A note had been placed on the injured party’s windscreen by a witness which included the registration of the other vehicle involved.
Officers attended the address of the last registered owner of that vehicle, the defendant.
Edmonds made no reply to caution but admitted to the offences during a notebook interview.
Defence barrister Ciara Ennis stated: “This is a woman of ill-health, she accepts she hit the other car and did co-operate with police.
“She did stay for a certain amount of time but accepts she did not make an effort to make herself known to the owner of the vehicle.”
Edmonds was handed six penalty points and was ordered to pay a fine of £350, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 20 weeks.
