A young woman suffered a terrifying ordeal whereby two knife-wielding thugs attempted to hijack her car in Craigavon during the early hours of Friday morning.
Cathy McClure said her daughter had a lucky escape shortly after 2am.
Posting on social media, she explained: “So my daughter has just got in around 2.30a,, she was getting out of the car and two wee assholes threatened her with a knife.
“Luckily enough she was just outside the house and when she started screaming they were off. If anyone saw anyone around this time let me know.”
SDLP councillor Thomas Larkham condemned the incident.
“Shocking to learn that a young woman was approached at around 2.30am this morning by two thugs yielding a knife to try and take her car.
“Luckily the perpetrators made off after the victim raised the alarm and no one was hurt. My thoughts are with this young woman and her family following what must have been a very frightening experience.
“I would appeal to anyone with information relating to this incident to pass it to the PSNI on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800555111.
“Please be vigilant out there folks.”
