On what would have been Caolan Finnegan’s 21st birthday (Thursday), the Care for Caolan team handed over almost £70,000 to three wonderful charities in his name.
The young Crossmaglen man last his brave battle against an aggressive form of brain cancer on Friday, August 23.
His fight against his illness was supported by many throughout the county and beyond, with fundraising initiatives held to help raise money for Caolan and his family.
Since his passing the Care for Caolan team have sought to help local charities.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust was presented with a marvellous £7,000 and also €10,300.
Posting on social media, the Trust said: “Yesterday, was a very poignant day for the Finnegan family in Crossmaglen, it was Caolan’s 21st birthday. Unfortunately this brave, inspirational and talented young man never got to celebrate this milestone.
The Care for Caolan team held their Cash Draw which was to generate funds for Caolan’s treatment (congratulations to the winners) and presented a marvellous £7,000 and also €10,300 to KBRT with the Southern Area Hospice receiving £25,000 and the Friends of Carrickmacross Cancer Society receiving €25,000.
