‘Out of control’ anti-social behaviour leaves new seats damaged at Crossmaglen GAA club

The club say 'young people drinking' and anti-social behaviour in the area is 'now out of control'

A Crossmaglen GAA club have voiced their frustration after new seats in their home grounds were damaged by vandals.

Cross Rangers – based at St Oliver Plunkett Park – published photos of new seats in their grounds, that had seemingly been broken in the last number of days, on social media.

The accompanying caption reads: “More vandalism. Our new seats in the stand have been broken. This anti social behaviour is now out of control.”

Aiming to combat the issue, the club have laid out some new ground rules, adding: “There is to be no loitering around the grounds, particularly in the turnstiles, where it has been brought to our attention that young people are drinking.”

They have also encouraged parents in the local area to “be vigilant” and know “where your children are”.

“It is not a drop off area to hang out,” they emphasised.

CCTV will be examined and the relevant authorities contacted as a result of the damage caused.

A Police spokesperson said: “Anti-social behaviour is an issue we take seriously and one that we are committed to tackling by working with partners and the community.

“We also rely on information from the public and the quicker these incidents are reported to us, the faster we can act.

“Information is key to enabling us to dedicate our resources where they are needed most and respond to any crimes in progress.”

Officers would encourage anyone who is experiencing anti-social behaviour or has information in relation to recent incidents, to please get in touch with us on 101.
