Residents and business owners invited to ‘have your say’ on future of Crossmaglen square

The Square Crossmaglen

Residents, businesses and community groups are invited to share their views on the future of Crossmaglen Square.

A public drop-in engagement event will be held on Tuesday 10 March 2026, from 4pm to 8pm at Crossmaglen Community Centre.

The event forms part of an ongoing study by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council to develop an Improvement Plan for the Square.

Council officials and scheme consultants will be on hand to discuss how the space is currently used and to gather ideas on how it could be enhanced through future investment.

The study will examine the Square and its surrounding area, identify challenges and opportunities and help shape practical recommendations aimed at revitalising this important civic space.

The findings will also support potential future funding applications, including Environmental Improvement Schemes.

Encouraging participation, Council Chairperson Councillor Philip Campbell said: “Crossmaglen Square is at the heart of the local community and this study is an opportunity for everyone who lives, works or spends time in the area to help shape its future.

“We want to hear directly from residents, businesses and community groups about what works well, what could be improved and what they would like to see in the years ahead.

“I would strongly encourage people to call in, share their views and play an active role in this important process.”

All members of the community are welcome to attend at any time during the drop-in session.
