Two men have been charged following a serious assault in Crossmaglen which left one victim in hospital requiring an operation.
The attack on two men happened just off The Square on the Dundalk Road area of the town during the early hours of Sunday, May 2.
Detectives in Newry have today (Tuesday) charged two men following an investigation into the incident.
A 25-year old-man has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, Possessing an Offensive Weapon, and a number of other offences.
A 22-year-old man has been charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
Both will appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 21.
As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
It was reported at the time the incident had caused great upset within the local community.
Sinn Fein Councillor Barra O Muirí, speaking at the time, said the attacks resulted in very serious physical injuries and trauma to the victims.
One of the men had to have an operation due to the severity of his injuries.
