Police are appealing for help after an attempt was made to pull a nine-year-old boy from a car.
The PSNI released details of the incident – which happened on Friday – and descriptions of two men involved.
Detective Sergeant Lisa McClure said a black Insignia car had pulled up outside the Vivo shop at Talbot Street in Newry at around 8pm on Friday night.
“The male driver left the vehicle running and got out,” she explained. “An adult female and two nine-year-old boys remained inside the car.
“Two males walked past the car and one of the men opened the back door and pulled at one of the boys in the back.
“The boy was strapped in and the man ran off from the car.
“He is described as being in his mid 20s, around 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a white coloured tracksuit.
“The second male also ran off and he is described as being in his early 30s, of stocky build with a tattoo below his left ear and a shaved head. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black jacket.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it. We can be contacted in Ardmore Police Station on 101, quoting ref: 1158 200215.”
