Keady Sinn Féin councillor Darren McNally has described the actions of those who dumped the carcasses of five cattle near the Drumhillery Road in Derrynoose as ‘disgusting and selfish’.
Councillor McNally said: “I have been contacted by local farmers who are sickened by this incident. These dead cattle have been lying here for over a week down a bank off the Drumhillery Road. There is a river a few yards away and people locally are very worried about possible contamination.
“It is impossible to tell what these cattle died from so it is essential that the carcasses are removed as soon as possible.
“I have contacted Armagh Council’s Environmental Health department who are looking into the removal of the animals.
“I know that farmers are under severe financial pressure at the minute but they need to be responsible and not discard dead stock in this way.”
