All Folk’d Up pay heartfelt tribute to late bandmate Barry Mohan with ‘BARRY’ album

Barry Mohan All Folk'd Up

All Folk’d Up, the Aughnacloy based folk band, is set to release a new album titled ‘BARRY’ on Tuesday, October 17.

The poignant album is a loving dedication to their dearly missed bandmate, friend and brother, Barry Mohan, whose life was tragically cut short on October 17, 2022 in a road traffic collision.

Recorded in June of that same year, ‘BARRY’ encapsulates a period of profound significance in the band’s journey.

Barry’s remarkable vocals and expert guitar skills shine through in every track, reminding listeners of the extraordinary talent they were fortunate to have by their side. The standout track, ‘Take My Hand,’ is a heartfelt original composed and performed by Barry himself.

Born in Monaghan in 1994 to parents Deaglan and Marina, Barry’s life was immersed in music from a young age. Growing up in Aughnacloy alongside his brother Pauric, he enjoyed a blissful childhood filled with melodies and rhythms.

Beyond his musical prowess, Barry was a multifaceted individual, excelling as an Irish dancer and displaying impressive skills in Gaelic football and soccer, achieving county medals with his local GAA club, Aghaloo.

However, it was Barry’s unbridled passion for music and his undeniable talent that truly defined his short but impactful life. He wasn’t just an accomplished guitarist; Barry also competed in All Ireland fleadhs on both banjo and accordion.

Later in life, he shared his musical knowledge and passion through teaching. Whether performing as a solo artist or as part of the dynamic duo ‘Cracklin’ Jacks,’ Barry’s warmth and enthusiasm created memories and friendships wherever he went.

Barry’s musical tastes were as eclectic as his talents, seamlessly blending various genres, including traditional tunes, folk melodies, and modern compositions.

His journey with All Folk’d Up began in 2015, and it was evident to anyone who witnessed his performances that he was born to be on stage. His guitar prowess, mesmerising vocals, and harmonious contributions added a unique dimension to the band’s performances, earning them success and adoration worldwide.

While the band shared countless stages and travelled thousands of miles together, it was clear that Barry was living his dream. Yet, the most cherished moment in his life was the birth of his daughter, Ceala Rose. Barry’s infectious energy, humour and love for life shone through, leaving an indelible mark on those around him.

“We are immensely proud of this album, which serves as a tribute to a devoted father, son, brother and a remarkable musician and friend,” said the members of All Folk’d Up.

“Barry may be gone, but his spirit lives on through our music. We hope ‘BARRY’ will keep his memory alive for all.”

‘BARRY’ the new album from All Folk’d Up is out on Tuesday, October 17. To celebrate the life and music of Barry Mohan, All Folk’d Up are holding a special launch night for the album at the Silverbirch Hotel in Omagh on Saturday, October 21. A copy of the album is included in the ticket price.
