A director of a Moy-based plant and lorry hire firm has been banned from running a company for nine years following a High Court ruling.
The disqualification order was made against Barry McGurk (44), of Laxford Lane, Broughty Ferry, Dundee, in relation to his conduct as director of BMG Group Ltd, which operated from 1 The Square, Moy, Dungannon.
The company, which specialised in plant, lorry and labour hire, went into liquidation in February 2022 with an estimated deficit of £229,502 owed to creditors.
The High Court found that McGurk had caused and permitted the company to make voidable dispositions of property and preference transactions, contrary to insolvency legislation.
According to the Department for the Economy, he personally benefited by more than £101,000 by misapplying assets that should have been made available to creditors at the date of liquidation.
The nine-year disqualification order was made on September 18, 2025, with McGurk not disputing the findings for the purposes of the proceedings.
The Department confirmed that, so far this financial year (since April 2025), eight disqualification undertakings have been accepted and two disqualification orders – including McGurk’s – have been made by the court.
