Four people were rescued from a serious house fire in Dungannon by police officers on Monday night.
A blaze broke out at a semi-detached property in the Cunninghams Lane area of the town at around 8.30pm.
A total of 12 people were taken to hospital; a number of police officers suffered the effects of smoke inhalation during their heroic rescue efforts.
Fire crews assisted in the aftermath of the rescue, helping extinguish the fire as well as administering first aid at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
Speaking on Monday night, UUP MLA Diana Armstrong, said: “Concerning news out of Dungannon this evening.
“I’m aware of a serious incident ongoing on Cunninghams Lane with PSNI and NI Fire Service on site. I’m liaising with PSNI to ascertain the current situation.”
Alliance Cllr Stephen Donnelly added: “Disturbing news emerging from Dungannon. My thoughts are with those affected, including the service personnel who attended the scene of the fire, and wish all impacted a swift recovery.”
