A Cookstown man accused of strangling his heavily pregnant partner is set to be arraigned on a fourth charge reflecting allegations of attempted child destruction.
Ryan Dobson – with an address in Feegarran Road – has already been arraigned on charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and non-fatal strangulation before Dungannon Crown Court. He has denied all charges, previously claiming to police to be “innocent”.
It was alleged that the 27-year-old entered into an argument with his 35-week-pregnant partner in the early hours of July 13, 2025 after she found messages to escorts on his phone.
On confronting him she claims he became “irate”, dragging her to the floor by her hair, repeatedly kicking her to the head then the stomach, before grabbing her by the throat leaving her struggling to breathe.
Appearing before His Honour Judge Sherrard, the prosecution said “at risk of speaking colloquially there is some houskeeping to be done” when introducing the need for arraignment on a further charge.
Mr Boyd for the prosecution explained that count one of attempted child destruction wasn’t put to the defendant when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor said that has now been with lodged with the court and an amended bill of indictment has been lodged which has a count four which “replicates” count one.
Defence counsel for Dobson, Mr McConkey raised no objection.
Dobson will now be arraigned on the fourth count on September 29 before Dungannon Crown Court.
