One person has died and another has been arrested following a single-vehicle collision in the Caledon area on Saturday evening, April 25, police have confirmed.
Detective Inspector Dave Stewart, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said officers received a report shortly after 11pm of a collision involving a van on Derrycourtney Road.
Police, along with crews from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead at the roadside.
Derrycourtney Road, which was closed overnight to allow for examination and recovery, has since reopened.
“One arrest has been made and our enquiries are continuing,” DI Stewart said.
“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1706 of 25/04/26.”
