A police investigation has been launched following an arson attack on a house in Caledon.
Emergency services were tasked to a fire inside a house in the Castle Drive area of the village shortly before 7pm on Thursday, February 9.
Detective Sergeant Robinson, who has appealed for witnesses, said: “Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service who extinguished the fire.
“While extensive damage was caused to the inside of the property, thankfully no one was injured. Enquiries are ongoing and the fire is being treated as an arson attack at this time.
“We would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, or who saw any suspicious activity in the area or has any CCTV footage to call us on 101, quoting reference number 1624 of 09/02/23.”
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said one crew from Armagh and two from Dungannon Fire Station attended the incident.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 8.16pm and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition at this time.”
