A Dungannon nightclub looks set to be converted into studio apartments.
Proposals for the site – at Perry Street – have been submitted to Mid-Ulster District Council.
The plans relate to an extensive site which has been central to the local social scene in Dungannon for many years.
The intention is for a property at No 5 Perry Street – currently described as “vacant” – to be converted into two one-bedroom studio apartments.
The remainder of the proposals refer to the properties at 7-13 Perry Street.
They are described in the application as a “public bar/restaurant and nightclub”.
The proposals would see the popular Station Bar and Gasworks Bar remain unaffected on the ground floor.
However, the first floor – developed as a nightclub complete with bar and stage area – would be converted into residential accommodation.
It would see a further nine one-bedroom studio apartments being developed, if plans are approved.
The proposals come less than two months after Armagh I revealed that a section of Scotch Street – including the former Fort Bar and Salt Nightclub – were earmarked for demolition as part of a major mixed-use scheme.
Those plans, for 5-19 Scotch Street, are currently under consideration and consist of two retail units and a total of 15 apartments.
This latest application for nearby Perry Street has been lodged by Denver Jardine and will now be advertised shortly.
