The public are being urged to refrain from speculation after emergency services attended an incident in Dungannon last night (Monday).
Tensions remain high the Co Tyrone town following the tragic murder of a man and attempted murder of two others in the Lisnahull Road area on Saturday, August 29.
However, elected local representatives are urging the public to refrain from making comments online or buying into speculation in regards to a second incident on Monday (August 31) evening in the Lambfield area.
Sinn Fein Cllr Deirdre Versani said: “There was an incident this afternoon in the area; without giving details, this was not as some are describing it.
“Please be careful with putting ‘legs’ to a story that just adds unnecessary and unhelpful layers. Just because police initially attend, this does not in itself indicate a crime has taken place; there are other emergency situations which police will also attend to assist and establish the circumstances.”
UUP spokesperson Ian Irwin added: “Emergency services attended an incident in the Lambfield area of Dungannon a short time ago, with police, ambulance crews and the air ambulance all responding.
“A man has been taken to hospital and, at this time, his condition is understood to be serious.
“Our thoughts are with him, his family and loved ones at this difficult time.
“Further information will be shared when available.”
A police spokesperson has confirmed the call out was a concern for safety matter.
