The former long-serving editor of the Tyrone Courier newspaper has died.
Richard Montgomery, who had been at the helm of the Dungannon-based publication, passed away today (Friday).
He was 92 years of age.
Mr Montgomery had clocked up 54 years working at the paper, having joined just two years after the end of the Second World War, and only retired from his role in 2001.
During his time at the paper, he reported on some of the most difficult days of the Troubles and the changing face of a town which he loved beyond compare.
He was a giant of a figure within the newspaper industry and was renowned for his fair and impartial manner, a friendly individual and a consummate professional.
Mr Montgomery could turn his hand to anything and had reported on all manner of news and features during the course of his long and seldom-achieved run in journalism.
He was also gifted behind the lens, being a very talented photographer, making him an all-rounder when it came to filing content for his title.
His was a familiar face around Dungannon, across County Tyrone and beyond for many, many years and his family and many friends have been deeply saddened by his passing.
Mr Montgomery, who lived at Killymeal Road, on the outskirts of the town, was the much-loved husband of Joy, dearly loved father of Ann, Helen and Julie, father-in-law of Stephen, Mark and Martin and much-loved grandfather of Georgina, William, Caragh, Erin and Isabelle.
He passed away at the Nightingale Nursing Home and his funeral will take place next week.
Family and friends are welcome at Dereck Marshall & Sons Funeral Home in Dungannon on Monday, August 7, from 6pm until 8pm.
And a Thanksgiving Service will be held in Tullanisken Parish Church, Newmills, on Tuesday, August 8, at 2 pm, after which he will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
