Saturday court date for pair accused of having offensive weapon in public and drugs charges

Police investigating a report of criminal damage in the Dungannon area on Thursday evening charged the two men to court

Police investigating a report of criminal damage in the Dungannon area on Thursday evening have charged two men to court.

The pair, aged 32 and 33, are both charged with a number of drug-related offences, as well as other offences, including criminal damage, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and possessing an article with a blade or point in a public place.

There were stopped in a blue van at Alexander Road in Armagh, which matched the description of a van reported leaving the scene of the earlier incident.

The men, aged 32 and 33, were detained and a search of the van carried out.

Suspected cannabis, a knife and other weapons were recovered and the two men were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a class B drug and possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.

Both are due to appear before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court later this morning, Saturday, January 13.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
