A County Tyrone man is to stand trial in relation to a fatal road traffic collision over four years ago which caused the death of three people.
Michael Moore (30) from Tullyneil Road, Sixmilecross is accused of causing the deaths by driving without due care and attention and after consuming excess alcohol.
The victims Peter McNamee, Nathan Corrigan and Peter Finnegan – all aged in their twenties – died at the scene.
A fourth male was taken to hospital with very serious injuries.
They were travelling in a car which was in collision with a lorry during the early hours of 27 December 2021 at Omagh Road, Garvaghy.
Moore appeared in the dock of Dungannon Crown Court on Tuesday speaking only to confirm his identity and plead not guilty to each charge in turn.
Defence counsel said the PPS had obtained numerous expert reports over the four year period since the incident before making the decision to lay charges.
He added further expert reports are required by sourcing the correct professionals to this has been challenging and while some have accepted instructions there remain several areas yet to be covered, including pathology and neurology.
It was assured work was continuing and all efforts are being made to avoid unnecessary delay.
Listing the trial for April 5 2027, Judge Brian Shearrd remarked, “In matters such as this we are all acutely aware of the loss that has been experienced by members of the community and there is a need to carefully calibrate progress to ensure the trial date is met.
Moore was remanded on continuing bail of £500 and ordered to reside at an address known to police at all times.
Judge Brian Sherrard agreed and remanded McDonagh on continuing bail to return to court for sentencing on September 29.
