Family urge public support for Benji in ‘Nose of Tralee 2015’ final

Forget the Rose of Tralee – here comes the Nose of Tralee!

And a local family are asking Armagh I readers to show their support for Benji – the Armagh Nose finalist!

The competition, which is organised by Petsitters Ireland, is up and running again.

And, of course we are biased, but we think Benji – a three-year-old Maltichon – deserves to win!

Owner Margaret Hughes told Armagh I: “I would love everyone in the county to get behind him and vote for Benji.

“We are very proud that he has been picked for the competition and he is wearing his Armagh County colours for his final snap.

“Benji has brought so much joy, fun and companionship to our lives. He rewards us everyday with his wagging tail and jumps of delight when we come home each evening.

“He is a constant sight around Middletown hanging out of the window, as he loves to travel in the car with me and in the van with his dad.

“It would be fabulous if Benji, the Armagh Nose, became the winner of the Nose of Tralee 2015.”

Benji just added something to the home when the Hughes family took him in.

Said Margaret: “Our children had flown the nest, and my husband’s mother and my own mother and father passed away within 18 months of each other.

“Our home went from having nine people living here down to just my husband and
myself.

“On a visit to our daughter Linda’s home she suggested we go and see her next door neighbour Val, whose dog had just had a litter of pups.

“We just fell in love with this little white bundle of fluff and when he was eight weeks old we took him home.

“And finally our house lost that empty feeling.

“He is a constant companion, loves to sit tightly beside you and cuddle on the sofa. At the mention of the word ‘spin’ his ears go up and his eyes brighten as he dashes for the car. He just loves to travel and he goes everywhere with us.”

Voting opened today and people can register one vote a day via the Facebook link below from now until the competition closes on August 18.

It costs nothing so go on, let’s bring this title to County Armagh – click on the link below and vote for Benji to win the Nose of Tralee 2015!
